Well this was probably my favourite episode of Nichijou so far, and going back over it to take screenshots made me realise just how good it is - the process is thoroughly enjoyable, not just to see the jokes again, but the art itself is wonderful; every frame seems to be full of humorous expressions, elaborate backgrounds and and self-referential objects - no detail is spared. So yes there is a
ridiculous number of images attached to this post
There was a reasonable absence of Mio in this episode, but this was compensated by the sheer EPICNESS of Mai, and I mean epic both in the internet vernacular and in the sense of a prolonged chronology :D.

I thought that the whole sweat drop thing in anime would get old one day, but nup. The noise that a trepidatious Sakurai-san makes is amazing to say the lea~waitwha-..a food tray on the move?! Wow Nichijou |
A gun is fine, too. |
Of all the little things they could do to make the professor more cute, who would've thought of standing on a trolley being pushed by Nano? |
That face can only mean that snacks are imminent... |
Sort of want? |
Snack blocked. |
Mai's arm-wrestling troll on Yukko was pretty
passé last week, I mean it was funny sure, but not quite at that same astonishingly good level that so much of Nichijou's quirkiness is. So they decided to compensate big time. Ok so this next incredibly long sequence of images is essentially
Mai-trolls-Yukko, Part the 1st. Looking at it like this it almost feels longer than the scene itself. This was such non-sequitur madness. I don't think I've seen absurdism quite this good before.

The shock begins |
Even though I had never conceived of such a thing until I saw this, I have retrospectively decided that I wanted to see this, just once even, in my school life. Someone standing on a desk, shoes off, in the middle of a test. Its kind of beautiful in a really odd way. Its art, goddamn it. |
The shock amplifies |
>.> So many people, but no-one to turn to! <.< |

Speaking of art, wowowowow |

DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!!11!11!11 |
So the rest of the episode was
Mai-trolls-Yukko, Part the 2nd. It is even better than the first part, and in fact its just so good that if I was going to cover it comprehensively I'd have to basically save the video to an image sequence and upload that. All I will say is that KyoAni are
massive trolls - this is such an incredibly good send up of ye olde romantic yuri scene - the glowing sunlight, the butterfly, the close-ups juxtaposed with the distant shots, the grassy hill, etc. etc. Yet the worst part is that (in part due to the animation quality) its so good that until the game is revealed its actually better than any serious yuri shows. KyoAni aren't just trolling Yukko, they're trolling you too bro.
eh. |
Long troll is loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong. |
I absolutely love this page. 日常 is my newest guilty pleasure. I laugh every episode and the music is good.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yeah it's a fantastic show, kyoani never dissapoint. There are like 4 episodes now that I haven't watched but I'm too busy studying for exams :(
